Thinking about visiting a club? Wonderful. Toastmasters meetings are friendly, supportive, and run by the members themselves. You’re welcome to come as a guest, watch, and simply enjoy; guests are never required to speak. Most meetings last about 60 to 90 minutes.
How a meeting flows

Welcome & opening
The meeting opens, guests are welcomed, and the Toastmaster of the Day sets the theme for the meeting.

Prepared speeches
A few members deliver speeches they’ve prepared (usually 5 to 7 minutes) from the 11 Pathways learning paths.

Table Topics
A fun, fast round of impromptu speaking; 1 to 2 minute answers to surprise questions. Guests may join in, but only if they’d like to.

Evaluations
Speakers receive warm, constructive feedback. Encouragement first; this is how everyone improves.
Meetings wrap up with brief reports, any awards for the day, and a closing; then time to mingle.
Who does what
Every meeting is powered by members in rotating roles; a great, low-pressure way to practice.
- Toastmaster of the Day: hosts the meeting and keeps it moving.
- Speakers: deliver prepared speeches from their Pathways projects.
- Table Topics Master: runs the impromptu-speaking segment.
- Evaluators: give each speaker encouraging, specific feedback.
- General Evaluator: evaluates the meeting as a whole.
- Timer: tracks time so everyone gets their fair share.
- Ah-Counter: notes filler words to help us speak more clearly.
- Grammarian: celebrates great language and offers a word of the day.
Tips for your first visit
- Arrive a few minutes early so a member can greet you and answer questions.
- Come as you are; most clubs are business-casual, and a few are more relaxed.
- There’s no cost to visit, and no obligation to join.
- Online and hybrid clubs welcome guests too; just use the meeting link on the club’s listing.
